Advanced Blu-U Light Thrapy

What is Blu-U®?

Blu-U is a unique facial treatment that involves the use of a high intensity, fluorescent blue light to the face. The fluorescent light technology kills the Propionibacterium (P. acnes), a bacteria that can worsen acne by causing additional inflammation and potentially allow acne to progress and spread.

This procedure is non-invasive, safe, and has no downtime and no discomfort. You can have a beautiful complexion in a few weeks. The BLU-U is a non-laser visible blue light device that targets the bacteria in the oil glands, eliminating a major player in the process of acne production.

For more severe forms of acne, or if excessive oil production is a major contributing factor, a topical photosensitizing agent called aminolevulonic acid (Levulan) may be added to the BLU-U® light treatments. This Photodynamic Therapy or PDT acts in three different ways to combat acne: while inactivating bacteria, it also shuts down sebaceous glands, and unclogs pores by exfoliating skin, with the additional benefit of re-texturizing the skin to smooth the appearance of acne scarring. By addressing these root causes of acne, long-term to permanent reduction of acne is obtained.

A New Way to Control Moderatre Acne

Not exclusive to teenagers, many young adults, people in their 20’s and 30’s, have trouble with facial acne that is hard to control. The BLU-U® Treatment – using the light without drugs or antibiotics – may be something for you to try. If you are looking for an alternative to medications or antibiotics, it might be just what you need.

How does Blue-U compare to ultraviolet light treatment?

Unlike ultraviolet (UV) light, the fluorescent light technology used in Blu-U is an FDA-approved treatment for facial acne and has no negative side effects, like those associated with prolonged or high intensity UV light exposure.

Is the Blu-U a Laser?

The BLU-U is not a laser. Lasers deliver light as coherent beams, while the BLU-U delivers incoherent light scattered over a larger area.

How long is a therapy session?

We will prescribe the most appropriate time frame for your acne, but typical sessions last roughly 16 minutes.

Our Laser Skin Treatments are being booked and performed at our Sister Company, Laser Skin Pro.
