Reduce Razor Burn

Razor burn is a skin irritation that can occur after shaving. It typically presents as a red, rash-like appearance on the skin and can be accompanied by discomfort or a burning sensation. Razor burn is more common in areas where people shave, such as the face, neck, legs, underarms, and pubic area.

Shaving can cause friction between the razor and the skin, leading to irritation and redness, especially if you press too hard or use a dull blade.

Causes of Razor Burn

One of the primary causes of razor burn is ingrown hairs. People with sensitive skin may be affected more frequently. Shaving against the grain, using too much pressure, or not lubricating the skin adequately can increase the risk of razor burn.

Prevention of Razor Burn

To prevent razor burn, you can take several steps, including using a sharp, clean razor, shaving cream or gel to lubricate the skin, shaving in the direction of hair growth, and avoiding excessive pressure or repetitive strokes.

After shaving, applying a soothing, alcohol-free aftershave or moisturizer can help calm the skin.
